Avian flu vaccine is an investigational peptide-based vaccine candidate developed by Youfeng Biotechnology for the prevention of H5N1 avian influenza. The vaccine utilizes the proprietary Ii-Key peptide technology platform, which involves modifying antigenic peptides by linking them to a specific segment of the MHC class II-associated invariant chain (the Ii-Key peptide). This modification facilitates the direct loading of H5N1-specific epitopes into the MHC class II binding groove of antigen-presenting cells, bypassing the traditional intracellular processing pathway. This mechanism is designed to significantly enhance the presentation of antigens to CD4+ T-helper cells, thereby inducing a robust and protective T-cell immune response against the H5N1 virus. The candidate has completed Phase 1 clinical development.
