Overview

Avian influenza therapeutic antibody is a monoclonal antibody candidate developed by the National Institute of Diagnostics and Vaccine Development in Infectious Diseases (NIDVD) at Xiamen University. It is specifically engineered to target and neutralize antigens of the avian influenza virus, with a focus on highly pathogenic strains such as H5N1 and H7N9. By binding to viral surface proteins, typically hemagglutinin, the antibody prevents viral entry into host cells and facilitates viral clearance. The project has progressed to the IND-enabling stage, and its clinical trial application has been accepted by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), positioning it as a potential treatment for severe avian influenza infections in humans.
