Aviandr

**Aviandr (maritupirdine)** is a novel multitarget anxiolytic and antidepressant drug developed by Avineuro Pharmaceuticals (ChemRar Group) primarily for **generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)**. It acts as a potent antagonist at multiple receptors including serotonergic **5-HT7 (Ki=0.15 nM)**, **5-HT2A**, **5-HT2C**, **5-HT6**, adrenergic **α2A**, **α2B**, **α2C** (Ki=0.41–3.6 nM), and histamine **H1** receptors, providing rapid anxiolytic effects without significant sedation, weight gain, withdrawal syndrome, or addiction risk seen in SSRIs or mirtazapine-like agents. In a phase II double-blind, placebo-controlled trial (n=129 GAD patients), **40 mg/day** (optimal dose) reduced HAM-A anxiety scores by **53.7%** (vs 16.3% placebo, p<0.002) over 8 weeks, with benefits starting day 1, sustained post-treatment, and superiority on HAM-D depression and CGI scales; 60 mg/day was effective but had more adverse events.[1][3][5]
