Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Avisetron (AVN-211) is a highly selective small molecule antagonist of the serotonin 6 (5-HT6) receptor, developed by Avineuro Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of schizophrenia. The drug exhibits high affinity for the 5-HT6 receptor (Ki = 2.1 nM) and demonstrates significant selectivity over other therapeutic targets. In clinical studies, avisetron has shown potential in improving positive symptoms and cognitive function in patients with schizophrenia. It has progressed into Phase 2/3 clinical trials and is also being explored for its potential utility in treating Alzheimer's disease.
