Avita HP is a topical triple-combination pharmaceutical cream primarily indicated for the short-term treatment of moderate-to-severe melasma of the face. It contains three active ingredients that work synergistically to address hyperpigmentation: hydroquinone, tretinoin, and mometasone furoate. Hydroquinone acts as a depigmenting agent by inhibiting the enzyme tyrosinase, which is essential for melanin synthesis. Tretinoin, a retinoid, promotes epidermal cell turnover and the shedding of pigmented keratinocytes, while also enhancing the penetration of hydroquinone into the skin. Mometasone furoate is a medium-potency corticosteroid that provides anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effects, helping to mitigate the skin irritation and erythema frequently caused by the other two components.
