Avive Soft Tissue Membrane is a minimally processed human umbilical cord membrane developed by Axogen Corporation. It is designed for use as a resorbable soft tissue covering to provide a protective barrier and a low-friction interface for peripheral nerves during the healing process following injury or surgery. The membrane is particularly utilized in the management of acute upper extremity trauma where nerve protection is required to prevent the formation of symptomatic adhesions and scarring. Avive is rich in extracellular matrix components, including hyaluronic acid and heavy chain-hyaluronic acid/pentraxin 3 (HC-HA/PTX3) complexes, which provide anti-inflammatory and anti-scarring properties. As a biological scaffold, it supports the natural healing environment while allowing the nerve to glide freely against surrounding tissues.
