Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AVL-102 is an mRNA-based therapeutic human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine developed by Beijing Advaccine Biotechnology (Advaccine) and its parent company Beijing Xunsheng Biomedical Research. It is designed to target four high-risk HPV subtypes: HPV16, HPV18, HPV52, and HPV58. Unlike prophylactic HPV vaccines that induce neutralizing antibodies to prevent infection, AVL-102 is a therapeutic vaccine that aims to stimulate a robust, antigen-specific T-cell immune response (specifically CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes and CD4+ helper T cells) to recognize and eliminate HPV-infected cells and precancerous lesions. It is being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials in China for the treatment of untreated HPV-related high-grade intraepithelial lesions, including cervical, vulvar, vaginal, and anal lesions.
