Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AVN-492 is a novel, highly potent, and highly selective small molecule 5-HT6 receptor antagonist developed by Avineuro Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of central nervous system (CNS) diseases. It exhibits an exceptionally high affinity for the 5-HT6 receptor (Ki = 91 pM), showing over 1,000-fold selectivity over the 5-HT2B receptor. Preclinical evaluations in rodents have shown that AVN-492 possesses high oral bioavailability and excellent brain permeability. The compound is being investigated as a potential therapeutic for cognitive and neurodegenerative impairments associated with conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia, currently serving as a backup candidate in the company's pipeline.
