Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Artrisedol is an anti-osteoarthritis pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by Gramón Bagó in Uruguay. It is formulated as oral capsules containing 300 mg of avocado and soybean unsaponifiables (ASU), consisting of a 1:2 ratio of avocado oil unsaponifiables (100 mg) and soybean oil unsaponifiables (200 mg). Artrisedol acts as a symptomatic slow-acting drug for osteoarthritis (SYSADOA). It helps restore the balance between the degradation and regeneration of the extracellular matrix in joint cartilage by stimulating the synthesis of collagen and proteoglycans, while reducing the production of fibronectin, pro-inflammatory cytokines (such as IL-1β and TNF-α), and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee and hip, and as an adjunct treatment for periodontal disease.
