Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Avocado leaf extract is a botanical extract derived from the leaves of the avocado tree (*Persea americana*). Rich in bioactive phytochemicals such as terpenoids, flavonoids, and polyphenols, the extract has been traditionally used in folk medicine and is currently being investigated for various therapeutic properties. Preclinical research, including studies at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, has demonstrated that avocado leaf extract exhibits significant antiviral activity, particularly through the inhibition of rotavirus replication. Additionally, it has been studied for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and vasorelaxant properties.
