Overview

AVR-123 is a small molecule dual modulator of Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) and Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) being developed by AyuVis Research. It is designed to treat inflammatory and neovascular diseases of the eye by modulating the innate immune response. The drug's primary focus is on Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), a condition in preterm infants where abnormal blood vessel growth can lead to blindness. Additionally, AVR-123 is being explored for other major retinal pathologies, including Diabetic Retinopathy and Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration (nAMD). By targeting the TLR2/4 pathways, AVR-123 aims to reduce pathological neuroinflammation and inhibit the pro-angiogenic signals that drive vision loss in these conditions.
