Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AVT10 is a biosimilar candidate developed by Alvotech to reference Cimzia (certolizumab pegol), a monoclonal antibody targeting tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) for the treatment of chronic inflammatory and rheumatic diseases. Certolizumab pegol works by binding specifically to TNF-α and inhibiting its activity, thereby reducing inflammation and disease symptoms in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and Crohn's disease. AVT10 is currently the only global biosimilar targeting Cimzia under development, aiming to improve access to high-quality biologics across Europe[7].
