Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AVT28 is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody candidate being developed by Alvotech, designed to reference Eli Lilly's Taltz (ixekizumab). It specifically targets and neutralizes interleukin-17A (IL-17A), a key pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the pathogenesis of various autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. By binding to IL-17A, AVT28 prevents its interaction with the IL-17 receptor, thereby inhibiting the downstream inflammatory cascade that leads to skin and joint symptoms. The drug is formulated for subcutaneous administration and is primarily intended for the treatment of plaque psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Alvotech has entered into a commercial partnership with Advanz Pharma for the registration and commercialization of AVT28 in the European market.
