Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AVT41 is a monoclonal antibody biosimilar candidate to guselkumab (Tremfya), developed by Alvotech. It specifically targets the p19 subunit of interleukin-23 (IL-23), a cytokine involved in the inflammatory and immune responses associated with several autoimmune conditions. By binding to the p19 subunit, AVT41 inhibits IL-23 signaling and the subsequent release of downstream pro-inflammatory cytokines. It is being developed for the treatment of IL-23-driven diseases, primarily plaque psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, and is designed for subcutaneous administration. Alvotech has entered into a partnership with Advanz Pharma for the commercialization of AVT41 in Europe.
