Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AVT919 is an engineered, myotropic adeno-associated virus (AAV) capsid variant developed by Exegenesis Bio using its AI-aided AAVarta capsid evolution discovery platform. Derived from an AAV9 scaffold, AVT919 is designed to provide highly efficient gene delivery to skeletal and cardiac muscle tissues while minimizing off-target liver transduction. In preclinical studies, AVT919 demonstrated significantly enhanced transgene expression in the triceps, tibialis anterior, and cardiac muscles of mice and non-human primates compared to wild-type AAV9 and benchmark myotropic capsids like MyoAAV2A. It is being developed as a delivery platform for muscle-targeting gene therapies, particularly for the treatment of muscular dystrophies such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).
