Overview

AVTX-008 is a fully human B and T Lymphocyte Attenuator (BTLA) agonist fusion protein developed by Avalo Therapeutics. It is designed to act as an immune checkpoint modulator by specifically binding to BTLA, thereby attenuating hyperactive immune responses. The drug does not bind to LIGHT or CD160, distinguishing it from other agents targeting the LIGHT-signaling network. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting lymphocyte activation and effector cell function through BTLA engagement, which may be beneficial in treating autoimmune and inflammatory diseases where dysregulation of the LIGHT-BTLA network plays a pathogenic role. AVTX-008 has high serum stability and solubility, with IND-enabling activities initiated and a target IND submission date in 2024. Potential indications under consideration include systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), non-eosinophilic asthma, inflammatory bowel diseases, COVID-19 acute respiratory distress syndrome, and other immune dysregulation disorders[1][2][4][5][7][8].
