AVX001

AVX001 is a small molecule inhibitor of cytosolic phospholipase A2 alpha (cPLA2α), developed as a topical gel for the treatment of inflammatory and proliferative skin diseases. It acts by inhibiting cPLA2α, an enzyme that catalyzes the release of arachidonic acid from membrane phospholipids, thereby reducing downstream production of pro-inflammatory eicosanoids. This mechanism underlies its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects. AVX001 has demonstrated potent activity in preclinical models and clinical studies for conditions such as plaque psoriasis, actinic keratosis, basal cell carcinoma, and other non-melanoma skin cancers. The drug is being developed by Coegin Pharma (formerly Avexxin) and has reached Phase 2 clinical trials for several dermatological indications[3][5][7].
