Overview

AVX701 is an investigational cancer vaccine based on an alphaviral (Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus, VEEV) replicon particle platform that expresses a modified carcinoembryonic antigen gene (CEA(6D)). The CEA(6D) modification enhances recognition by CD8+ T cell receptors. This self-amplifying mRNA vector is designed to induce strong cellular and humoral immune responses against tumors expressing CEA, such as colorectal, breast, lung, and pancreatic cancers. The mechanism involves the delivery of amplifying mRNA into host cells, leading to high-level and prolonged expression of the target protein at low doses. AVX701 has been evaluated in phase I/II clinical trials for metastatic and stage III colorectal cancer patients[1][2][3][5][6][7][8].
