Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AW21003 is a preclinical-stage small molecule new chemical entity (NCE) belonging to the aminoindane class, being developed by Awakn Life Sciences in partnership with Graft Polymer. It is primarily targeted for the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related mental health disorders. Preclinical studies conducted at the University of Nottingham indicate that AW21003 promotes pro-social behaviors such as trust, empathy, and social bonding, which are critical factors in addressing the symptoms of PTSD. The compound has demonstrated the ability to enhance social interaction and information transfer in animal models while showing a favorable safety profile compared to MDMA, specifically lacking observed stereotyped behaviors such as flat body posture or lateral head weaving.
