Overview

AWT026 is a preclinical-stage bifunctional fusion protein developed by Anwita Biosciences, consisting of an anti-LAG-3 antibody linked to an interleukin-2 (IL-2) mutein complex. This targeted cytokine therapy is designed to address T-cell exhaustion within the tumor microenvironment by simultaneously blocking the LAG-3 checkpoint and delivering a localized IL-2 payload to stimulate tumor-reactive T cells. By concentrating the IL-2 signal on T cells expressing LAG-3, the therapy aims to enhance antitumor activity while potentially reducing the systemic toxicities associated with high-dose IL-2. AWT026 is being investigated for the treatment of melanoma, particularly in combination with anti-PD-1 therapies, and as a strategy to enhance the efficacy and persistence of CAR T-cell therapies.
