Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AXA1125 is an orally active, multi-amino acid composition developed by Axcella Health (now Axcella Therapeutics) as an Endogenous Metabolic Modulator (EMM). It consists of a specific mixture of six amino acids and derivatives: leucine, isoleucine, valine, arginine, glutamine, and N-acetylcysteine. AXA1125 is designed to simultaneously support multiple metabolic pathways to address complex diseases characterized by metabolic dysfunction. In the context of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), it aims to reduce liver fat, inflammation, and fibrosis by improving mitochondrial efficiency and insulin sensitivity. In Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 (PASC), also known as Long COVID, AXA1125 has been investigated for its ability to improve mitochondrial function and cellular bioenergetics to alleviate fatigue and muscle dysfunction. The drug is typically administered as a powder for oral solution.
