**AXA2678** is an investigational, orally administered fixed-dose composition of essential amino acids, arginine, glutamine, and N-acetylcysteine developed by Axcella for disuse-related skeletal-muscle atrophy. It was designed as a multitargeted endogenous metabolic modulator intended to support muscle protein synthesis, metabolic function, and muscle-fiber health during immobilization. In a 28-day randomized, placebo-controlled study in healthy young men undergoing single-limb immobilization, AXA2678 was well tolerated and was associated with less muscle atrophy and less intramuscular fat accumulation than placebo.
