Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**AXA4010** is Axcella's proprietary designed amino acid composition, developed as an orally administered food product and dietary supplement candidate for sickle cell disease. It was evaluated in an open-label, 12-week study in adults and adolescents to assess safety, tolerability, vascular physiology, cerebral and renal blood flow, functional capacity, and inflammatory biomarkers. Preclinical work described effects on red-blood-cell membrane deformability, cellular adhesion, and inflammation, but no discrete molecular target or direct receptor-binding mechanism has been publicly established.
