Overview

This combination therapy consists of axatilimab, retifanlimab, and paclitaxel, and is currently being evaluated in a Phase Ib/II clinical trial sponsored by the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute. Axatilimab is a monoclonal antibody that targets the colony-stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF-1R), designed to deplete immunosuppressive tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) within the tumor microenvironment. Retifanlimab is a monoclonal antibody checkpoint inhibitor that targets programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1), reactivating T-cell anti-tumor activity. Paclitaxel is a taxane chemotherapy agent that stabilizes microtubules, thereby inhibiting mitosis and inducing cell death. The combination aims to leverage the synergistic effects of cytotoxic chemotherapy and dual immunotherapy to overcome resistance in patients with advanced or metastatic solid tumors who have previously received taxane therapy.
