AxisBiotix-Ps is a probiotic food supplement developed by SkinBioTherapeutics, through its subsidiary AxisBiotix, in partnership with Winclove Probiotics B.V. for the treatment of psoriasis. [4] Now also marketed as AxisBiotix Skin Calm, the product's active ingredient is a proprietary blend of four live bacteria strains: Bifidobacterium animalis, Levilactobacillus brevis, Limosilactobacillus reuteri, and Lactococcus lactis cremoris. [3] Each sachet contains approximately 4 billion live bacteria. [3] Classified as a biologic modality (probiotic), its biological targets are the pro-inflammatory cytokines Interleukin-17 (IL-17) and Interleukin-23 (IL-23), which are typically elevated in individuals with psoriasis. [3] The supplement operates through the gut-skin axis to modulate the immune system, reduce inflammation, and strengthen the gut barrier, thereby aiming to alleviate psoriasis symptoms such as redness, itchiness, and flaky skin.
