axitinib sandoz

Axitinib Sandoz is a generic formulation of axitinib, a potent and selective second-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI). It primarily targets vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR-1, VEGFR-2, and VEGFR-3), which are critical mediators of tumor angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis. By inhibiting these receptors, axitinib blocks the signaling pathways that promote the growth of new blood vessels to the tumor, thereby restricting tumor growth and progression. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of advanced or metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC), particularly after the failure of one prior systemic therapy. Sandoz developed this generic version to provide a cost-effective alternative to the reference product, Inlyta, for patients with clear-cell component metastatic RCC.
