Overview

AXL-07 is a small molecule, selective orexin-2 receptor (OX2R) agonist originally developed by Aexon Labs and subsequently acquired by NLS Pharmaceutics in early 2024. The compound is designed to target the orexin (hypocretin) system, which plays a fundamental role in the regulation of wakefulness, arousal, and sleep-wake transitions. By acting as an agonist at the OX2R, AXL-07 aims to compensate for orexin signaling deficits that are characteristic of conditions such as narcolepsy and certain neurodevelopmental disorders, including Prader-Willi Syndrome. The drug is currently in the preclinical stage of development, with NLS Pharmaceutics exploring its potential across multiple central nervous system (CNS) indications where sleep fragmentation and excessive daytime sleepiness are prevalent.
