Overview

Axl RNAi refers to RNA interference (RNAi) strategies, including small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) and short hairpin RNAs (shRNAs), designed to selectively silence the expression of the AXL receptor tyrosine kinase. AXL is a member of the TAM (Tyro3, AXL, Mer) receptor tyrosine kinase family and is activated by its ligand, growth arrest-specific 6 (Gas6). Overexpression and activation of AXL are implicated in tumor cell proliferation, survival, migration, invasion, metastasis, and the development of resistance to chemotherapeutic and targeted therapies across various cancers, including breast, lung, ovarian, and colorectal cancers. By targeting AXL mRNA for degradation, Axl RNAi inhibits downstream signaling pathways such as PI3K/Akt and MAPK/ERK, thereby reversing epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and suppressing malignant phenotypes in preclinical research.
