Overview

AXL siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the AXL receptor tyrosine kinase. AXL is a member of the TAM (Tyro3, Axl, Mer) family of receptor tyrosine kinases and is frequently overexpressed in various cancers, where it promotes epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), metastasis, and drug resistance. By binding to and promoting the degradation of AXL mRNA via the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), AXL siRNA reduces AXL protein levels, thereby inhibiting downstream signaling pathways such as AKT and MAPK. Research applications include the treatment of ovarian, uterine, lung, and colon cancers, as well as the management of liver fibrosis and keloids. Delivery often requires specialized platforms like nanoparticles (e.g., p5RHH) to ensure stability and cellular uptake in vivo.
