Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Axonorm NP is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product marketed by Gonan Pharma for the management of neuropathic pain. It contains three active ingredients: pregabalin, nortriptyline, and methylcobalamin. Pregabalin is an alpha-2-delta ligand that binds to voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system, thereby reducing the release of several excitatory neurotransmitters and modulating pain signaling. Nortriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant that inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and noradrenaline, enhancing the descending inhibitory pain pathways. Methylcobalamin, a form of Vitamin B12, acts as a cofactor for methionine synthase and is essential for the production of myelin, aiding in nerve regeneration and the repair of damaged nerve cells. The product is formulated as a sustained-release (SR) tablet for oral administration and is typically indicated for chronic pain resulting from diabetic neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia (shingles), or spinal cord injury.
