Overview

AXS-20 is an investigational, oral, rapidly absorbed formulation of meloxicam developed by Axsome Therapeutics. It utilizes Axsome's MoST (Molecularly Solubility Enhanced) technology to increase the speed of absorption of meloxicam, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Meloxicam is a potent inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), which is responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in pain and inflammation. By enhancing solubility and absorption, AXS-20 aims to provide faster pain relief compared to standard meloxicam formulations. It has been studied for the treatment of acute pain and was also developed as a component of the combination product AXS-07.
