Overview

Aylevita is a branded generic formulation of teneligliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor marketed by Lloyd Healthcare. It is primarily indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Teneligliptin works by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which is responsible for the degradation of incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). By preventing the breakdown of these hormones, Aylevita increases their circulating levels, which in turn stimulates insulin secretion and suppresses glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. This mechanism helps to lower both fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.
