Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This Ayurvedic cannabis preparation is an oral formulation containing a 1:1 ratio of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), with studied doses including 5 mg or 2.5 mg of each component. Developed by Tata Memorial Hospital, the drug is being investigated in a Phase 1 clinical trial for use in the peri-operative period for patients with breast cancer and oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma. The study aims to evaluate the safety, pharmacokinetic profile, and transcriptomic effects of the preparation, specifically looking at its impact on gene expression profiling in tumor tissues and its potential to ameliorate surgical stress responses and modulate cancer-related pathways through the endocannabinoid system.
