Aza-B is a preclinical-stage small molecule queuine analog developed by Azadyne. It is designed to function as a substrate for the enzyme queuine tRNA ribosyltransferase (QTRT), which is responsible for the post-transcriptional modification of specific tRNAs (tRNA-Asn, tRNA-Asp, tRNA-His, and tRNA-Tyr) by replacing guanine with queuine at the wobble position. By acting as a synthetic substrate, Aza-B modulates tRNA queuosine-related biology, a pathway that influences protein translation efficiency and cellular stress responses. While Azadyne's lead programs focus on autoimmune diseases, Aza-B is being explored for other unspecified therapeutic indications.
