Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of azacitidine, a hypomethylating agent that works by blocking enzymes needed for cell growth and can induce expression of multiple genes including cancer-testis antigens. Pembrolizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting PD-1 (programmed cell death protein 1), blocking its interaction with ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2. This combination aims to enhance antitumor immune responses, as hypomethylating agents can increase expression of immune checkpoints, and anti-PD-1 antibodies can block the interaction between PD-1 and its ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2.
