Overview

Azapropazone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used primarily for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and gout. It acts as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent. Azapropazone also exhibits uricosuric properties but its hypouricaemic effect is not solely due to increased uric acid excretion or xanthine oxidase inhibition; the precise mechanism remains unclear. The drug has a half-life of approximately 20 hours in humans and is not extensively metabolized. Common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances (such as bleeding), allergic skin reactions including photosensitivity, headache, vertigo, edema and potential kidney impairment[1][5][8].
