AZD-1386

AZD-1386 is an investigational small molecule drug developed as an oral antagonist of the transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) receptor. TRPV1 is a heat and acid-sensitive ion channel implicated in pain signaling. AZD-1386 was studied for its analgesic properties in conditions such as osteoarthritis pain and experimentally induced esophageal pain (as a model for gastroesophageal reflux disease hypersensitivity). Clinical studies demonstrated that AZD-1386 increased heat pain thresholds in both skin and esophagus but did not affect other types of stimuli. The drug was generally well tolerated but development has been discontinued[1][2][3][4][5][6].
