Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AZD4547 + exemestane is a combination therapy consisting of AZD4547, a potent and selective inhibitor of Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor (FGFR) 1, 2, and 3 receptor tyrosine kinases, and exemestane, an aromatase inhibitor. This combination was investigated for the treatment of estrogen receptor positive (ER+) breast cancer patients who had progressed on prior endocrine therapy. The rationale for this combination is that FGFR inhibitors like AZD4547 may reverse endocrine resistance in breast cancer cells, potentially enhancing the effectiveness of hormonal therapies in patients who have developed resistance to aromatase inhibitors.
