Overview

AZD5148 is an investigational anti-toxin B neutralizing monoclonal antibody developed by AstraZeneca for the prevention and treatment of *Clostridioides difficile* infection (CDI), particularly targeting recurrent cases. Its mechanism of action involves binding to and neutralizing *Clostridium difficile* toxin B (TcdB), a major virulence factor responsible for the pathology of CDI. Preclinical studies have shown that AZD5148 can prevent severe disease in animal models, and it is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers via intravenous or intramuscular administration[3][4][5][7].
