AZD6370

AZD6370 is an investigational small molecule drug developed as a glucokinase activator for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It acts by increasing the activity of glucokinase, an enzyme that plays a key role in glucose sensing and regulation in pancreatic beta cells and the liver. By activating glucokinase, AZD6370 enhances glucose-stimulated insulin secretion and increases hepatic glucose utilization, leading to reductions in both fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels. Clinical studies demonstrated dose-dependent decreases in plasma glucose and increased insulin secretion following administration of AZD6370. The drug was generally well tolerated but development was discontinued due to hypoglycemia risk at higher doses[1][5][7].
