Overview

AZD7798 is an investigational monoclonal antibody developed by AstraZeneca for the treatment of Crohn's disease. It is designed to deplete CCR9-positive (CCR9+) T cells, which play a role in gut inflammation. By targeting and reducing these specific immune cells, AZD7798 aims to decrease intestinal inflammation and promote mucosal healing in patients with moderate to severe Crohn’s disease. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy. Early studies have shown rapid and sustained depletion of CCR9+ lymphocytes in both healthy volunteers and patients with Crohn’s disease[1][3][4][5][6].
