Overview

AZD8108 is an investigational small molecule drug that acts as an antagonist of the NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) receptor, specifically targeting glutamate receptor ionotropic NMDA subunits. It was originally developed by AstraZeneca for the treatment of suicidal ideation. The drug was evaluated in a phase 1 clinical trial to assess its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in healthy volunteers. As of early 2017, development by AstraZeneca was discontinued or divested to an unknown company and no further clinical development has been reported[1][2][3][4][7].
