Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AZD8853 is a human monoclonal antibody developed as an anti-cancer agent targeting growth/differentiation factor 15 (GDF15), a cytokine overexpressed in multiple solid tumors and implicated in immunosuppression within the tumor microenvironment. By binding to and inhibiting GDF15, AZD8853 was designed to enhance anti-tumor immune responses. The drug was evaluated as monotherapy in patients with advanced or metastatic solid tumors, including microsatellite-stable colorectal cancer (MSS-CRC) and urothelial carcinoma. Clinical studies showed that while the drug was well tolerated, it did not produce objective responses or sustained pharmacodynamic effects on GDF15 suppression[6][7][4]. Development of AZD8853 has been discontinued.
