Azento

Azento is a macrolide antibiotic containing azithromycin as its active pharmaceutical ingredient. It is primarily used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections (such as bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, tonsillitis, and pharyngitis), skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhea. The drug exerts its antibacterial effect by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, thereby inhibiting RNA-dependent protein synthesis and preventing bacterial growth. It is available in oral tablet formulations of 250mg and 500mg and is manufactured by companies such as Alkem Laboratories.
