Overview

Azirax is an oral macrolide antibiotic containing azithromycin, manufactured and distributed by Rax Health Care. It is a small molecule that functions by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, thereby inhibiting RNA-dependent protein synthesis and preventing bacterial growth. Azirax is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia), ear and throat infections, sinusitis, skin and soft tissue infections, typhoid fever, and sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea and chlamydia. It is typically administered as a 250mg or 500mg tablet once daily due to its extensive tissue distribution and long terminal half-life.
