AZM-152 is a potent peptide-based inhibitor developed by Azome Therapeutics. It functions as an antagonist of the Receptor for Hyaluronan-Mediated Motility (RHAMM), a protein critical for the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome. By disrupting RHAMM function, AZM-152 prevents the assembly and activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome, thereby blocking both the priming and activation phases of inflammation and reducing the transcription of pro-inflammatory cytokines like IL-1beta and IL-18. It is being developed for the treatment of severe inflammatory diseases, including Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD), Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), acute lung injury, systemic sepsis, acute liver and kidney injury, and pneumonia.
