Overview

Azotek is an antibiotic product developed and marketed by Saffron Pharma in Pakistan. Its active ingredient is azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic belonging to the azalide subclass. Azotek works by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, thereby inhibiting RNA-dependent protein synthesis. It is available in oral tablet (250mg and 500mg) and suspension formulations. The drug is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections (such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinusitis), skin and soft tissue infections, ear infections, throat infections (including strep throat and tonsillitis), urinary tract infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections.
