Azurin is a bacterial blue-copper protein primarily produced by *Pseudomonas aeruginosa* and other denitrifying bacteria. It functions as a periplasmic electron carrier in bacterial anaerobic respiration and denitrification by transferring electrons between cytochrome c~551~ and nitrite reductase[2]. Structurally, azurin consists of about 128 amino acids forming a stable eight-stranded β-barrel (Greek key motif) with an immunoglobulin-like fold and copper-binding active site[1][2]. Apart from its physiological role, azurin has been investigated for its **anticancer**, **antimicrobial**, **antiparasitic**, and **anti-HIV** properties[1][7]. It induces apoptosis selectively in cancer cells and demonstrates antimicrobial activity by disrupting bacterial membranes[1]. It shows therapeutic promise as a biologic, and a 28-amino acid fragment (p28) derived from azurin has advanced to clinical development for cancer[1].
