Overview
Bōndia™ (SBD111) is a synbiotic medical food developed by Sōlaria Biō for the dietary management of bone loss associated with menopause, aging, and weight loss. Classified under FDA medical food regulations, it is a proprietary formula combining plant-based probiotics and prebiotics. Bōndia operates via the gut–bone axis, working to enhance gut epithelial barrier integrity (reducing 'leaky gut') and decrease systemic inflammatory signaling. This mechanism leads to the inhibition of osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, as demonstrated by reductions in bone turnover biomarkers such as TRAP and CTX-1. It is currently being evaluated in the STARS (Study To Attenuate Resorption of Skeleton) clinical trial in collaboration with Harvard Medical School affiliates, including Hebrew SeniorLife's Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research.
