Overview

B-B4 is a plasmocyte-selective monoclonal antibody developed by MAB DESIGNS that targets Syndecan-1 (CD138), a heparan sulfate proteoglycan predominantly expressed on the surface of plasma cells. The antibody specifically recognizes a linear epitope located at amino acids 90-93 of the mature Syndecan-1 core protein. By binding to CD138, B-B4 identifies and targets malignant plasma cells, making it a candidate for the treatment of hematological malignancies such as multiple myeloma. It has been investigated in various formats, including radioimmunotherapy, to deliver cytotoxic payloads directly to tumor cells while sparing non-target tissues. According to MAB DESIGNS' pipeline, the antibody is currently in preclinical development for hematological conditions.
